The coreless medium-frequency induction furnace has proven to be the perfect cast-iron melting furnace in anode rodding shops. Furnaces used for this application have a capacity ranging from 1 to 3 tonnes and a melting rate up to about 4 tonnes an hour.

Pouring Furnaces for Anode Rodding Shops

Induction heated pouring furnaces are used increasingly for pouring the anode rings in the rodding shop. In these cases the molten metal is transferred from coreless medium-frequency induction furnaces through a launder system into the pouring furnace filling siphon.

The metal level in the furnace pouring spout is kept constant by applying suitable pressure. By operating a stopper on a pouring nozzle the required amount of metal is then dosed into a heated mobile launder system for pouring the anode ring.
