Cooling chambers

Thermcon batch type cooling chambers for extrusion billets allow cooling down of a wide range of billet sizes rapidly and/or according to exactly predetermined cooling curves. Batch type cooling chambers work in conjunction with batch type homogenizing furnaces to provide the necessary flexibility when producing billets in many different diameters and alloys.

The cooling chambers together with the charging machine that also serves the homogenizing furnace(s) operate semi automatically, controlled by PLC systems with HMI interfaces that allow control of the process via menues for each size and alloy and even custom designed menues so that each batch can be treated in accordance with special requirements of individual customers for specific end products.

Optional moveable ceilings enable reproducible results even when billets of many different diameters resulting in varying batch heights are processed in the furnace as the moveable ceiling levels out the height above the batch so that air flows in the cooling chamber are not disturbed resulting in consistent process conditions. Uni-directional and bi-directional cooling chambers (the latter with reversible air flow) are available to meet every possible metallurgical requirement.
