DC casting machines
Thermcon designs and supplies state-of-the-art DC casting machines for the production of aluminium rolling slabs, T-bars and extrusion billets. Both hydraulically operated and cable operated DC casting machines are available. The hydraulic casting machines use modern, internally guided cylinders whereas the cable casting machines have design features that ensure a straight cast product.
Machines are available in capacities up to 150 tons with either tilting mould tables or roll on/roll off mould carriages that can have also tilting mould frames. Cable operated machines have great advantages in that the civil work is limited compared to hydraulically operated machines as no separate deep cylinder pit is required, special design features ensure that the platen remains absolutely horizontal, compensating for any expansion of the wires to which the platen is attached.
The machines, like all Thermcon equipment, operate fully automatically through PLC systems with HMI interfaces that allow operation of the machine by predetermined menues ensuring a consistent and safe production of high quality products.
