By lowering the saw gauge conveyor the cut-to-length profiles are put onto the cross transfer belts to be transported crosswise in the direction of the profile stacker. The spacers are taken from the spacer containers in layers by magnets or in the case of aluminium spacers, e.g. by vacuum technology. After delivery of the spacer layers onto corresponding feeding belts the spacers are allocated and fine-positioned.
The pairs of grippers lift the profile layers with the help of the spacers and put them into the baskets. The storage of the profile batches is either layer-to-layer or in combs. In the area of the cross transport it is possible to remove long scrap by lifting the cross transfer belt No. 2 and to transport it by an under-floor conveyor or to cut it up additionally by using a scrap shear. First the profile layers are taken out of the baskets. By special touch and gripping systems the spacers are recognized and gripped safely. Then the layers are put onto longitudinal or cross transport devices. With transfer belts where frequency controlled drives guarantee a gentle transport, the profiles are moved to the packing stations.
ELHAUS destackers are built either in single or in double version. Here you can see a double destacker additionally equipped with longitudinal and cross transport devices which very efficiently serve two packing stations each. The spacers are collected below the longitudinal conveyor and then automatically stacked into the spacer baskets layer by layer. The filled spacer baskets are transported together with the empty profile baskets over the floor conveyor system back to the extrusion line in the profile stacker area.
