The manufacture of copper semi-finished products in a continuous melting and casting process calls for storage and holding furnaces which fulfil the following functions:
- Storing of large volumes of metal ready for casting
- Pouring via siphons
- Furnace atmosphere easy to control
- High superheating power
- Assuring a constant metal temperature
- Providing a homogeneous melt
- Buffer function between melting and casting
The induction heated rotary furnace with its large storage volume and the sealed furnace atmosphere has proved to be ideal for this application.
